Dr Elaine Ron, from the Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics, Radiation Epidemiology Branch of the United States National Cancer Institute, an internationally renowned expert in the health effects of exposure to radiation, and a close friend of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, passed away last Saturday 20 November 2010 from cancer. She had served on the Agency's Scientific Council for four years and was Chairperson of the 44th Session of IARC's Scientific Council in 2008.
Beyond her field of expertise and scientific achievements, she will be remembered as a thorough, rigorous, yet humorous, passionate and dynamic figure of the cancer research community by all who were fortunate enough to work with her. All at IARC will miss her sincerely.Read moreFor more information
