IARC activities are funded mainly by the statutory contributions provided by its Participating States. The IARC Regular Budget for the 2022-2023 biennium was approved by the Governing Council in May 2021 at a level of 45.37 million euros, financed from the assessment on Participating States.
In addition, the Agency continues to attract voluntary contributions earmarked for the programme and projects, mainly through competitive grants and increasingly through direct contributions from funding agencies ranging from charities to government organizations.
IARC also receives donations from private individuals. Such contributions are credited to the Agency’s Undesignated Contributions account, from which allocations to the programme and projects are made according to Governing Council decisions.
