A new special issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute Monographs has been published to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). This IARC@60 monograph was coordinated by guest editors Dr Joachim Schüz, Head of the Environment and Lifestyle Epidemiology Branch, and Dr Mary Schubauer-Berigan, Head of the Evidence Synthesis and Classification Branch at IARC. It features a collection of 12 articles written by IARC scientists and collaborators.
The articles cover some of the contributions made by IARC researchers to critical areas of cancer prevention research in the past, insights and vision to tackle the challenges of the future, and the current state of some of the most promising investigative topics in the field.
This IARC@60 monograph of the JNCI Monographs is sponsored by IARC and is being published as part of the IARC@60 celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of IARC. The 60th anniversary year will culminate with the IARC@60 conference, which will take place in Lyon, France, on 19–21 May 2026. Registration for the conference is still open.
