The personnel of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) would like to thank Dr Chris Wild for his exceptional contribution as Director over the past 10 years.
Dr Wild has led the Agency with a dedication and commitment that have inspired all those around him. He has expanded IARC’s membership to include its first three member countries from the World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Region and has built a programme of cancer research within the Agency that will directly impact future cancer prevention efforts worldwide.
He has accomplished all this while promoting an IARC way of working, based on the principles of independence and integrity. Dr Wild leaves behind him an important legacy, which the Agency will continue to build upon for many years to come. We wish him the very best in all his future endeavours.
