IARC hosts CanScreen5 Train the Trainers event for Asian countries

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) hosted a Cancer Screening in Five Continents (CanScreen5) Train the Trainers event in Bali, Indonesia, on 7–10 October 2024. This prestigious event brought together 22 programme managers and health-care professionals from 10 countries in Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka), to advance the objective of training programme managers and health-care professionals on cancer screening programme evaluation and quality improvement through systematic collection of high-quality data.

This training initiative is made possible through collaborative efforts between IARC and the Ministry of Health of Indonesia and the Dharmais Cancer Hospital – National Cancer Center in Jakarta, Indonesia, and through funding provided by the Sabin Vaccine Institute, USA.

The goal of the CanScreen5 training programme is to equip programme managers and health-care professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement effective cancer screening programmes tailored to the unique needs of their communities. The participants took part in comprehensive workshops, interactive sessions, and discussions led by experts in the field.
