IARC and partners launch canSERV, a new project to defragment the landscape of European cancer research

Scientists from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) join researchers and partner institutions to launch a new initiative to defragment the landscape of European cancer research. The new project, called the canSERV consortium, will enable academia and industry to access cutting-edge services and support – from basic science to clinical translation – to foster personalized medicine for patients with cancer.

Researchers and other stakeholders will be able to request services through canSERV’s single, unified transnational access platform, which will be built to integrate unique cancer research services from all consortium partners and more than 200 transnational access providers. Calls for the supply of funded services will be announced during the next few months. canSERV aims to offer at least 200 different unique personalized oncology-relevant and valuable cutting-edge services for life science research in Europe over the next three years.

The cross-cutting canSERV consortium comprises 19 partners from leading European Research Infrastructure Consortia, research infrastructures, scientific societies, and patient associations. The consortium, which is funded by the European Union (EU), will make innovative services available to cancer researchers, thereby supporting the goals of the EU Mission on Cancer.
