Summary
Pancreatic cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death. Although it is only the 12th most common cancer type globally, with more than 530 000 people estimated to have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2024, it is the sixth most common cause of cancer death, leading to more than 490 000 deaths in 2024. It is one of the cancer types with the least favourable prognosis.
