Prior to the imminent publication of the new
European guidelines for quality assurance in colorectal cancer screening and diagnosis, the chapter on quality assurance in pathology and its annex on the annotation of colorectal lesions have been reviewed and published online by Virchows Archiv in order to make the principles and standards recommended in the new EU guidelines known to a wider scientific community. The Guidelines were developed in an international collaborative project that was co-financed by the EU Public Health Programme and coordinated by IARC. The project involved over 90 experts from 32 countries including 22 European countries as well as Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Norway and the United States of America.
