A new report on cancer prevention concludes that strong support and collaboration are essential for preventing cancer. The report was compiled by scientists from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and partners, including the Cancer Society of Finland and the Association of European Cancer Leagues, as part of the European Union Innovative Partnership for Action Against Cancer (iPAAC) Joint Action.
The European Commission has issued two ambitious plans – the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the European Cancer Mission – to save 3 million lives from cancer by 2030. IARC plays a key role in both these initiatives.
The iPAAC report urges stronger support structures for health policy. This includes more effective collaboration, interventions, guidelines, supportive policy approaches, and capacity-building for prevention at every level of cancer control.
