The IARC Biobank (IBB) hosts one of the largest, most varied and richest international human sample collections in the world (over 5 million). The resource contains both population-based collections from research projects focusing on gene-environment interactions and disease-based collections which focus on biomarker studies. Most of the samples are body fluids, including plasma, serum and urine as well as extracted DNA samples.
One of IARC’s chief functions is to promote international scientific cooperation. The ongoing cataloguing of bio-specimens and studies within this new resource will foster new collaborative opportunities between the Agency and scientists world-wide. Link to the IARC Biobank website
