The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) held a welcome ceremony in the IARC Nouveau Centre building in Gerland, Lyon, France, on 20 January to welcome personnel to the new building.

IARC Director Dr Elisabete Weiderpass spoke of the exciting new opportunities afforded to researchers by the cutting-edge facilities, and congratulated the Nouveau Centre project team on the success of the build and moving process. She thanked IARC’s French institutional partners on behalf of IARC and the entire cancer research community for their support for the project, with a special mention for the Métropole de Lyon, which oversaw construction over the past three years.

Dr Weiderpass was joined by Mr Grégory Doucet, the Mayor of Lyon, and Mr Bruno Bernard, the President of the Métropole de Lyon, who spoke about the importance of the Nouveau Centre project to Lyon and its Biopôle, the growing links between Lyon and the World Health Organization, and the scourge of the cancer burden.

The physical address of the Nouveau Centre building is 25 avenue Tony Garnier, 69007 Lyon, France. IARC’s new postal address is 25 avenue Tony Garnier, CS 90627, 69366 LYON CEDEX 07, France.
