IARC Governing Council meets in Lyon

The Sixty-Seventh Session of the Governing Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is taking place on 6–8 May 2025 in Lyon, France. This session of the Governing Council, which is being held as a hybrid meeting, is chaired by Professor Norbert Ifrah of the National Cancer Institute (INCa), France.

The launch of the Agency’s 60th anniversary campaign, IARC@60, will occur during this session, kicking off a year of celebrations, activities, and special events, which will culminate in an international scientific conference in Lyon in May 2026.

The Governing Council directs the general policies of the Agency and includes representatives from the World Health Organization, as well as from the ministries of health, national cancer institutes, or similar government bodies involved in public health from each IARC Participating State.
