IARC Governing Council meets in hybrid meeting

The Sixty-Fifth Session of the Governing Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is taking place on 10–12 May 2023. This is the first session of the Governing Council to be held in the new IARC premises and will conclude with the official inauguration of the building. This meeting will be a hybrid event, with most delegates present at IARC in Lyon, France, and others joining remotely via web conference. The previous three sessions of the Governing Council – in 2020, 2021, and 2022 – were held entirely as remote meetings.

The IARC Governing Council includes representatives from the World Health Organization as well as from the ministries of health, national cancer institutes, or similar government bodies involved in public health from each IARC Participating State. The incoming and outgoing Chairpersons of the IARC Scientific Council will also attend the meeting as Observers.

This session of the Governing Council is chaired by Professor Norbert Ifrah of the National Cancer Institute (INCa), France.
