Dr Sandra Perdomo, a scientist in the Genetic Epidemiology Group at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), answers questions about the Latin American Consortium for Hereditary Breast Cancer and Ovarian Cancer (LACAM) research project and shares preliminary results, in a new interview to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which occurs in October every year. The researchers involved in the LACAM project aim to recruit 3000 women with hereditary breast cancer and ovarian cancer, to explore genetic and non-genetic associations with the risk of developing these cancer types.
