IARC marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2021

During October, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2021 with a series of videos, tweets, and infographics focusing on the Agency’s work to understand and tackle the global burden of breast cancer.

Breast cancer became the most commonly diagnosed cancer type in the world in 2020. IARC estimates that there were more than 2.26 million new cases of breast cancer and almost 685 000 deaths from breast cancer worldwide in 2020. Breast cancer accounted for more than 10% of all new cancer cases and almost 7% of all cancer deaths in 2020.

Stay tuned to the IARC website and the IARC social media channels (@IARCWHO on Twitter and YouTube; International Agency for Research on Cancer on LinkedIn) over the coming weeks to learn more about the most common cancer type in the world and how IARC is working to control it.
