Watch the official inauguration of the new IARC building

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will hold a ceremony to officially inaugurate the new IARC building on 12 May 2023 in the presence of the IARC Governing Council, dignitaries from IARC Participating States, and the principal funders of the construction project. The event will be available to view live on the IARC YouTube channel from about 10:00 am Lyon time on 12 May.

The inauguration will begin with the unveiling of the building plaque, followed by speeches from IARC Director Dr Elisabete Weiderpass and representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), local government, and public health institutions.

A round-table discussion titled “Research perspectives on cancer prevention and the contribution of IARC/WHO” will take place from 11:15 am. The participants will be Professor Norbert Ifrah, Chairperson of the IARC Governing Council and President of the National Cancer Institute, France; Dr Manami Inoue, Chairperson of the IARC Scientific Council and Division Chief at the Center for Public Health Sciences, National Cancer Center, Japan; Dr Satish Gopal, Director of the Center for Global Health, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, USA; and Dr Bente Mikkelsen, Director of the Division of Noncommunicable Diseases, WHO.
