The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) welcomes World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRFI) as an official partner for the IARC@60: Cancer Research into Action conference, the crowning event of the IARC 60th anniversary celebrations.
The collaboration between IARC and WCRFI – two of the most important names in cancer prevention research globally – will enable the conference to be truly equitable, presenting the state of research in countries that do not always get floor time at major international events.
WCRFI is working with IARC to support capacity-building and contribute to the development of future leaders working in cancer research in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). To this end, WCRFI is very generously offering at least six conference bursaries for researchers in LMICs (as defined by the World Bank classifications, in line with IARC).
These bursaries can be used to cover the costs of attending the conference, such as registration, travel, and accommodation, and will be paid upfront in advance of the conference. Applicants for a bursary must have submitted an abstract to the conference, and bursaries will be distributed only to those whose abstracts are accepted.
The IARC@60: Cancer Research into Action conference will take place on 19–21 May 2026 in Lyon, France. The three main scientific themes are (1) Discovery and innovation for cancer prevention, (2) Translating research into public health action, and (3) Science–policy interface for global change.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is 19 January 2026. More information is available on the dedicated conference website.
