IARC researcher presents challenges to cancer early detection and prevention to NCI

Dr André Carvalho, Deputy Head of the Early Detection, Prevention, and Infections Branch at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), presented IARC’s scientific evidence base of challenges and barriers to cancer early detection and prevention to the Global Health Interest Group of the United States National Cancer Institute (NCI).

The Global Health Interest Group invites professionals from within the United States National Institutes of Health and from external expert agencies, such as IARC, to present their work and discuss the local and global health impacts of their research, often referencing the need for cross-disciplinary collaboration in addressing global health concerns.

Dr Carvalho gave his presentation on the topic “What have been the barriers and challenges in early detection and prevention at IARC?” on 7 February 2024 at the NCI Shady Grove Campus in Maryland, USA, and participated in a panel discussion and Q&A session.
