Dr Felix Onyije, a postdoctoral fellow in the Section of Environment and Radiation at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), won the prize for the best Early Career Researcher presentation at SEGHLive, the first online conference held by the Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SEGH).
His presentation was about a paper titled “A systematic review and meta-analysis of cancer among petroleum industry workers”. Petroleum refining and related activities are sources of potential exposure to carcinogens for workers and people who live near refineries.
The scientific organizing committee for SEGHLive selected the winner of the prize on the basis of the clarity of the speaker, the quality of the slides, the content of the presentation, and the overall importance of the work.
