Chernobyl, 30 years on:
Interview of Dr A. Kesminiene on the research and health impact of the Chernobyl disaster

26 April 2016 marks the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster – the worst nuclear accident of the last century. The accident led to a massive release of radioactive substances into the environment, including radioactive isotopes of iodine.
Dr Ausrele Kesminiene, Deputy Head of the Section of Environment and Radiation at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), has been studying the health effects of the Chernobyl disaster since 1991.
