New IARC-coordinated breast cancer epigenetics study awarded grant by ERA-NET

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is pleased to announce that the EpiMark project has recently been selected for funding. The research grant was submitted to the EC TRANSCAN call on "Translational research on primary and secondary prevention of cancer” (JTC 2012). The funding is part of the European Commission funding scheme ERA-NET.

EpiMark will provide insights into the role of risk factors in driving the epigenetic changes associated with breast cancer and reveal potential targets for biomarker discovery. This multidisciplinary and multicentre research project will be coordinated by IARC (PI, Zdenko Herceg) and involve seven major European cancer institutes in five countries. The project aims to provide a scientific basis for primary and secondary prevention of cancer and is due to start early in 2014.Open PDF with InformationLink to ERA-NETwebsite
