IARC Oral Cancer Team calls on researchers and health professionals to join new global oral cancer screening network

Scientists from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) are calling on researchers and health professionals to join a global network focused on oral cancer screening. The goal of the network is to amplify the research of all partners and accelerate efforts to understand, tackle, and prevent oral cancer in different settings.

Other objectives of the new network include: (i) sharing best practices and exchanging experiences, lessons learned, resources, and innovative strategies; (ii) enhancing collaboration by building partnerships to support coordinated efforts in screening and research; and (iii) driving policy and practice by shaping policies that expand effective oral cancer screening initiatives globally.

Professionals and organizations that have implemented large-scale oral cancer screening efforts are particularly encouraged to join the network, because their work is particularly important to facilitate knowledge exchanges, foster collaboration, and inform evidence-based policy.

IARC researchers in the IARC Oral Cancer Team lead or are involved in various projects that examine risk factors and prevention programmes for oral cancer. The most impactful risk factors and the most effective prevention programmes can vary by population.

To express interest in joining the network or to request further information, contact the IARC Oral Cancer Team at oralcancerteam@iarc.who.int.
