The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will host a side event to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA, on 23 September 2025. Dr Zisis Kozlakidis, Head of Laboratory Support, Biobanking, and Services at IARC, will present the most recent IARC results in relation to childhood cancer, nutrition, and the microbiome. The event will take place at the Penn Club of New York, 30 West 44th Street, New York, at 17:00–19:00 EDT.
Stakeholders and permanent missions to the United Nations are expected to attend to discuss the potential impact of this research and the potential opportunity to strengthen global policy commitments and advance the integration of comprehensive and multidisciplinary noncommunicable disease (NCD) care for children and adolescents within national health agendas.
A round-table discussion will also convene global experts and policy-makers to examine disparities in access to NCD care, share practical strategies for health systems strengthening, and develop actionable recommendations to ensure that every child living with an NCD receives the care they need. This event follows up from a side event to the World Health Assembly about childhood NCDs that took place in Geneva, Switzerland, in May 2025.
