Launch of King Hussein Award for Cancer Research

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) aims to promote international collaboration in cancer research. A new award, recently launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal, the chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center in Jordan, will highlight the contribution of researchers from Arab countries to this endeavour and enable cutting-edge research.

The King Hussein Award for Cancer Research will recognize leaders in cancer research from Arab countries – including both established and promising investigators – who are making outstanding contributions to knowledge in the fields of prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care.

The main goals of the award are to promote and celebrate cancer research efforts in Arab countries and to encourage collaboration between researchers to fill gaps in the understanding of cancer in these populations.

The King Hussein Award for Cancer Research has four categories: the Promising Researcher Grant, the Research Project Award (one for an established researcher and one for a promising researcher), the Lifetime Achievement Award (one for Arab doctors based in Arab countries and one for Arab doctors working abroad), and the Institutional Excellence in Research Award (for hospitals and universities).

More information about the award and categories is available on the dedicated website.
