Researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will participate in the Regional Meeting for Implementing the Action Plan for Oral Health in South-East Asia 2022–2030, which is coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO) South-East Asia Region and will take place on 28–30 March 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Dr Béatrice Lauby-Secretan and Dr Suzanne Nethan of the Evidence Synthesis and Classification Branch at IARC will present IARC Handbooks of Cancer Prevention Volume 19 on primary and secondary prevention of oral cancer and accompanying supplements developed to facilitate the implementation of effective prevention programmes.

The WHO South-East Asia Region has the highest rates of oral cancer incidence and mortality in the world; age-standardized mortality rates for both men and women are more than double the global averages.
