The 55th Session of the Scientific Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is taking place in Lyon on 30 January–1 February 2019. This year, the Scientific Council includes an additional member, from the Islamic Republic of Iran, which became an IARC Participating State in May 2018.
The Scientific Council will review key areas of IARC’s research programme, such as the Agency’s contribution to World Health Organization global initiatives on cervical cancer and childhood cancer, opportunities for cancer prevention by promoting a healthy body weight, and enhancing the impact of IARC’s work with innovative research platforms.
This meeting of the Scientific Council will be chaired by Professor Giske Ursin of Norway.
