Launch of CanScreen-ECIS project website

Researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and partner institutions have launched the “Strengthening cancer screening data collection to update the European Cancer Information System and improve quality and coverage of cancer screening programmes in Europe” (CanScreen-ECIS) project website. CanScreen-ECIS, which is coordinated by IARC researchers, is one of several projects that will be highlighted in a webinar to showcase the implementation of the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the European Union Mission on Cancer.

The CanScreen-ECIS project aims to develop a system for collecting, managing, and disseminating performance data from cancer screening programmes in European countries, with the ultimate goal of enabling screening programmes to continually evaluate and improve their performance.

The project website presents information about the partner institutions, objectives, methodology, results, and news related to the project. It will also ensure that project-related information will be accessible to interested users after the project has ended.

CanScreen-ECIS will contribute to Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan by creating a platform for monitoring the performance of cancer screening programmes in Europe, providing valuable data for professionals, policy-makers, and the public.

The project showcase webinar will take place on Thursday 25 May 2023 starting at 14:00 CEST and is open to anyone interested in the European Union’s work on cancer, and specifically Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
