The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has published a new video to thank its partners, bring 2021 to a close, and welcome 2022.
Despite the growing burden of cancer and the setbacks to cancer prevention activities caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, IARC scientists have more confidence than ever before in the ability to prevent cancer and save lives through cancer research that matters. New tools and approaches are opening up novel avenues of research and shining a light on areas that were previously impossible to see. It is an exciting time in cancer research, made all the more so by IARC’s upcoming move to its new headquarters, the Nouveau Centre building.
According to current evidence, up to 50% of all cancer cases can be prevented. IARC researchers are working with partners around the world to discover hidden causes of cancer, advance the understanding of cancer development, and accelerate the implementation of life-saving cancer prevention programmes.
The IARC Director and personnel thank all our partners, collaborators, and friends for their support. We hope to see you soon to continue our research to help bring about a world where fewer people develop cancer.
