IARC at UNGA76 Science Summit

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) will be represented at the Science Summit at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA76), which opened on 14 September 2021. Dr Zisis Kozlakidis, Head of Laboratory Support, Biobanking, and Services at IARC, will participate in the UNGA76 Science Summit. The objective of this virtual meeting is to raise awareness of the role and contribution of science for the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr Kozlakidis will deliver his presentation on “Biobanking in the digital health age” during the session on “Biobanking to support the SDGs”, to be held on Wednesday 22 September at 17:00 CEST. His presentation will address issues relating to how digital health solutions and health information technology are systematically transforming the way health care is delivered in the 21st century, with a particular focus on the development of biobanking in relation to digital health. Dr Kozlakidis will provide examples from a range of geographical areas, including from resource-constrained settings, and will discuss how such research infrastructures can support the SDGs, in particular Goal 3: Good health and well-being.
